What do Angelina Jolie's Thai Tattoos Mean?
Both Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have, over several visits obtained their Thai Tattoo's (called Sak Yant) from one of Bangkok's more well known Ajarns. While not many people can now afford to go to the same Sak Yant Master (Ajarn Noo now charges about $3000 for a basic Sak Yant Tattoo and usually it is one of his students who does the Thai Tattoo), there is no doubt that Angelina Jolie's Sak Yant Tattoos have created an increase interest in the ancient art form among western visitors to Thailand.
For the longest time, we at Sak Yant Chiang Mai have been reluctant to write this article despite many of our Sak Yant guest wanting to know Angelina Jolie Thai Tattoo meanings. We have been concern that in doing so, people would forget that Angelina got each of her Sak Yant's on separate occasions over many years (as is the tradition of only getting one design as required). However, as is the case in many blog-post's about the Sak Yant, there is now so much misinformation or poorly written articles about the meaning of Angelina's Sak Yant Tattoo's; that we decided to write our own more informed article. We do this with the following provision .....
Anyone who comes to us requesting to copy all of Angelina Jolie's Sak Yant Tattoo's in one sitting will be turned away. Sak Yants are a magical blessing that a person obtains when they feel that they require some extra blessing in life. If you just want a Tattoo, we suggest you seek out a Tattoo Shop
To ask for more than 2 Sak Yants at any one time, is a clear sign that the person is looking for a fashion statement and does not have a genuine interest in the deeper meaning of the Sak Yant. While we are happy to provide this article to people who are curious and interested in Angelina Jolie and what her Thai Tattoos mean; it should not be used as a blueprint of your own desires to copy from a real Sak Yant Master. You can of course request this from a Tattoo Artist, but then you are getting just a tattoo and not a Sak Yant.
